Socrates in love by Kyoichi Katayama

Where do I start? I've read this book two times, both in spanish so I decided that I'd also tagged its name in spanish just as its exactly translation from spanish to english, because-not sure why- its translation to english they changed the title for Socrates in love-not quite sure about it, I believe it's cause the manga-

This book came to me in a really strange way, I was looking for something to read and out of nowhere I read the name, which reminded me to an anime I watched in my high school time, an anime that everysingle time I watched it-and were more than two, because I bought the DVDs-made me cry and made me feel that real love was actually something real, no matter how difficult the world could be or how hard everyone can make you think it would be. The anime was Saikano, which in spanish they added to the name the phrase: "The last love song in this little planet", and as you, my dear reader may realise, both phrases are quite similar-I mean to the book's title, of course- so thinking that maybe the manga was based on this book, I bought without even doubting-because come on! the manga was so damn good, that later was published the anime, the ova and the live action movie, so why would I think there was not possible to get a book as well , right ?

But great was my surprise when the principal character weren't even named like the anime-way more when there was no war or machines either, yeah I didn't even read the synopsis-but still I wasn't depressed I was just more curious, and kept reading, besides I bought it in spanish and was quite easier to read it, because the pace was pretty relaxed so I went on... and couldn't be more happier of doing so.

This book tells us the story of Aki Hirose and Sakutaro Matsumoto, both school partners know each other since kids, and making their friendship growing to a beautiful and sincere love.

Like a "slice of life-anime" we can read in 3 parts of the book-because is divided in 4- how the love between both of them was flourishing, how they met, their behaviour at school, at their parents, their families and such - because they were still being kids- so if you have ever watched an anime you can realise what I mean when I say it was like a slice of life-anime-yeah they tell you of how it was being delegate, how were their dates, their weekends and of course, how they tried to have sex for first time-and if to that you add rural japanese scenaries and sweet anecdotes of their relatives of how the live used to be, you will be teletransported to an innocent, relaxed and lovely panorama right away, giving to the reader a way of peace.

But not everything is as good as it looks like, here comes the part of drama: Aki gets sick, changing the genere of the book completely from romance to drama-a heartbreaking, sobbing kind of drama- one of those where you say: "nahhh, I'm okay; I can handle it", but then you find yourself blinking away the tears from your eyes because they don't let you keep reading-yup that kind of drama-

The first time I read it, I cried an ocean...but the second one I just shed a few tears -guess because I already knew what was coming-but still the story is worth it.

The book shows us different types of love, but all of them pure in their own especial way and also how to handle the lost of a beloved one. Here I had to name Saku's grandpa, I think he's the wise man from the book, giving you the best stories that will make you say: WOW, he's the one that will take Saku's hand just in the moments he needs it more.

Reading the book the first time was like if someone was getting a hand inside of me and crushing my heart, but the second one was like if someone were hugging me; in both ocassions the book made me realise the kinf of love I want in life and I want to teach to my future family and share with the rest of the world and miss the tranquility of how it was being kid and the sensations of peace and ease you felt in that time.

I can´t say more of this book without risking of giving you spoilers, just telling you that is worth the hour and a half of your time-or maybe less, cause it's 200 pages- and if you read it from top to bottom in once...the emotions will be really strong. 

May not be Romeo & Juliet or the sweetest and most dramatic love story of the world, but it is a freaking sweet and sad love story.

Gun Shy by Lili St. Germain

“Gun Shy” has a really good narrative and a pretty good pace, told from MPOV so you can be in the shoes of the victim and the criminal…just that in this scenario the book plays with the idea about who the real victim is? And who the real psychopath is? letting your mind fly high with the menu of options you can come to think of.

Telling the story of a tragic love so much more sadder than the one of Romeo and Juliet’s a love already blossomed that nothing and nobody can seem to get to break…until circumstances…happen…or at least that’s what the book makes us all believe. Leo and Cassie are high school sweethearts, knowing each other better than they know themselves but because a psychopath’s greed an accident and a sentence will have to make them apart for almost eight year, letting life to show them the worse things they are capable of endure.

It’s just me and my monster, just us in our house built out of bones and lies. Being as playful as destiny is, they meet again with the same strong love they used to have once, the time apart only being the cause to reinforce it; but now their relationship isn’t as easier as they thought it may be. Cassie is not the very same girl she used to be, Cassie is nothing alike as the girl she used to be being on the claws of a predator for that long she seems unable to escape from his reach risking Leo’s and everyone else’s life in the middle.

Leo’s the same goy just stronger and harder in his principles fighting desperately for the people he loves and the things he believes in…will find new and difficult obstacles to overcome in the way to happiness.

Jennifer, Karen and Hannah; are secondary characters, but not because of it they will be a fade memory in the reading of this book, but all the contrary will leave you with sentiments of anger, remorse, and compassion .

And of course Damon king the monster from this story, that even when you know his story… will still want to rip every single part of his body, because he´s not only living in the dark, but he irradiates darkness as he walks swallowing everyone that comes into his reach as long as he can takes what he really wants.

This is a fast reading, a book completely dark that will make you see life from another perspective. Liked it very much, totally recommended.

Night of cake and puppets by Laini Taylor

For being completely honest??? I actually feel like…if I were in love (and I seriously think that was the point of everything, right?) I’m amazed...didn’t know there was a way to express the actual falling in love in a written word and in one of their most purest ways. I’ve read a lot of books, but none of them have gave me that perfect description of the feeling…of how a lil girl growing up at her own accord goes slowly falling in love

I'm really trying to order my feeling and emotions right here…the whole book I’ve been like :

 Beginning….ok? aha..what’s next….no wonder …acceptable ..yeah

Middle…AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

I can totally say now ( as if I weren’t before) that I’m a totally believer now, not an optimistic person but rather a crazy one that believes that anything good or bad can happen in this world, and this book have gave me one of the most craziest and strongest warming hugs I’ve ever had before …coming from a book…at least not in a long time .

 I’ve been apart from book world in a while but this book not only strongly welcomes me to come back, but rather to even bring more people with me in the process…and I’m so trying to do it ..and let’s just say that this book goes really deep in my heart. 

PLOT
Zuze is attracted to Mik…Mik is attracted to Zuze…none of them in control of their own actions in front of the other, letting time pass without they never even talking or lets say..even recognizing the very existence of the other

Review: Perilous Love

Ok so let’s start with saying…. Apparently I’m not into elves story…unless it has some great action all over it, and I’m happy to say that this surely HAD a great adrenaline twist close to the end.

So let’s see.

Edana

She is an elf…but just not any elf she is the princess of the kingdom of elves!!! So of course she is well educated and all but… u wanna know the real Edana?

Yeah! She’s just my kind of girl… girl power up!!

And after a tragic event,(which I will not tell you, 'cause not a fan of spoilers =D ) she comes to realize of who she really is and wants to be, and in order to get the revenge she always wanted for that tragic event…she will soon learn, that what she has always has kept in the dark is actually what will bring her to the fulfillment of her life, getting her in the beginning of an unexpected and wonderful adventure.

Faudron

A young man that only lives life for him being blessed with great skills for magic and easiness for combat what will make hin into one of the most desirable hunters for all the kingdoms.

And is precisely like that, that he will come to be a part of a task that will leave any man pale from fear…a task that with no place for doubt will change his life forever

An Unexpected journey?

This one of the things I loved the most of this book. I’m not a huge fan of elves, ‘cause apart from TLOTR I haven’t ever read or watched anything about them EVER, but the journey these 2 characters will get themselves into will make go crazy on adrenaline, discovering a hell of a few things that you won’t see coming.

And of course they will not be able to contain themselves along the whole journey…right?

A GROWN UP FAIRYTALE!!!

Ok, apparently elves and such are NOT my thing unless it has some action or something...which I can say that I can happily state that this book made a great twist since the 70% of it...that it made me to literally devoured the last 30% of the book!

It has romance, fantasy a bit of TLOTR I think a heroine that i fucking like a lot a hero that makes me laugh a lot ... and some hot scenes that were....wow!!

Review: Limits of Destiny

Alexia Welson and Alexander Kraftberg.

This is such a sweet story, at least it is for me you remember that feeling you had when you were starting to read those first chapters of 50SoG? Well, I have that feeling for a while…wanna know why?

Alexia

She’s a beautiful & successful woman that has made her own amazing life away from home…like very FAR away from home. (given that she’s an American girl living and working in Zurich)

Works in a big bank, has an amazing job and apartment in other words…every girl dream life=D

But her love life has been a bit down, given that she hasn’t found real love.

But be careful with what you desire for, ‘cause when that desire comes true…there’s no way getting out of it…and thanks to her amazing life and having a millionaire friend that always get her to meet some rich and hot guys…well there’s no wonder of her maybe finally falling for someone…someone like Alexander Kraftberg.

Alexander

A millionaire and mysterious billionaire, that isn’t the one to blame in order of his many sexcapades, given that he was also blessed with a body and skills that any girl would throw themselves willingly to him, allowing him to make every single one of his hot fantasies come true except for one: LOVE real Love…something he never asked for, but that when it actually happened…he wouldn’t be able to let go.

But of course at 29 years old and always used to have his way in every single aspect of his life, and never be denied or rejected of anything…. Finding himself in a real relationship with a woman that has never being used to be told what to do with her own life will prove to be more than what he ever thought would be able to tolerate.

My main thoughts?

Their relationship come out of instalove well, insta-attraction I guess, that will soon turn up to be love…love that will soon make Alexander think that he has the very right to command and say in every single way of Alexia’s life…which woul frequently be found sexy as a trait of a hot alpha dom…but fuck not that much when he goes overboard crazy JEALOUS just of her breathing the same air of a randomn guy that happens to be one feet close to her!!! (yeah ! jealousy could be cute as long it isn’t go to that extent! On my opinion, of course!)

And Alexander is playing the mysterious man role, where he has been hiding a very deep & important part of himself from Alexia…that will soon come to slap her in the face and will risk to loosing her by the claws of this secret and everyone that involves it.

So, now this has a cliffhanger …not a crazy one,( well if you are like me and can’t stand to wait, then that’s alright ‘cause the other books are already published so just go grab the next one =D ) but one that will surely show you that now these 2 persons are about to put their love at test in some serious situations involving Alexander’s trueself and Alexia’s love strength.

Now if you don’t see yet why this reminded me of 50SoG…then I guess…when you read the book you will understand it…but it’s only slightly, though.

And besides the description of all the background, ‘cause duhhhhh! This happens in Zurich will transport you to beautiful places where you will neve leave.

All & All this was a really lovely reading.

Okay, when you read a book and you get everything from one single POV, usually from the heroine you're like 'oh wow, that's nice; then there's book 2 where you get the guy's POV and we all go like: "Love it, now i have the whole thing together", right?
So here we have like 4 POV's if I'm not mistaken. So good that you will not only have the whole picture together, but at some point you'll be feeling like if you were playing



so you can follow the lead of each one of the characters.

So what was the best thing she could do?

He's a crazy guy that believes that rock is bad and apparently Sonita here is the evil itself, so he goes into I'm-the-avenger-of-God-mode so

She's an abnegated mother and wife, actually she's an abnegated wife, 'cause her daughter are already grown ups and out of the house, while she goes like a submissive mouse, letting her hubby do whatever the f*ck he wants.


so she's also studying for being a certificate nurse and also trying to have a great time with her friends, while at the same time is harboring a huge crush on the spanish guy:


So when it's time for this guy to go back to his country they do a costume party, wellsort of amd she goes as diva rock star of course.

He's a taugh ukrainian , that has been on jail, and now works capitaining different ships to stay away from problems, but when he come home to see his family , he comes with the surprise that the politic situation of his country is taking the lives of the kids in danger, as physical as their health, so he would do everything in his power to stop it.

So ...what? were you expecting me to tell you what will happen next?! HA! NOT a chance! READ THE BOOK
Let's just say that the lives of all these character mix together in one point where, then they'll al have to give the best of themselves, being:

So, we have a confussion of identities, a murderer, a mafia strike, an invasion, a barriere of defense from part of the god ones, and new self-discovering for everyone else.




So if you're looking something that would give you a little history lesson , without getting boring, a romance and the sea journey of your life where you'll be able to have every little whim you can imagine ...then come and get this one!

Okay! I know this is not one of my regular readings here, but you know what?! I liked it and I pretty much enjoyed it a lot

The story is told from different POV's ( different like more than 2, yeah!!), add to it, that it also happen in more than one location and, of course, it also has more than just one language...(which BTW I looooved it,XD) even though I know nothing of ukrainian XP

Now the story is like a thread that goes slowly twisting more and more every single time you keep reading. So at first you're like : oh, ok that's good, yeah, that's interesting but also ...what does any of that has any to do with any of the other...until suddenly KABOON! yep! ohhhhhhhhhhhhh..that's where you were heading to. XD

It was a really nice reading, perfect for a rainy or lazy day where you feel like you wanna do absolutely nothing physcally, but you totally won't mind that you do everything mentally.

So we have drama, suspense, a bit of thriller and bathe in comedy and a bit of romance as well...all in the name of a very, very GOOD CAUSE.

I won't say more further, 'cause this is just a tiny bit...my full review is already in process.

But for everyone that would like to read something new and out of their regular book genders... this is a great option

Review: This is War, Baby

This is War, Baby by K. Webster

I liked the themes the author develops in here, we have from sex slavery to an extreme OCD among other things and in the middle of it... there's this girl that comes to discover her sexuality and finding out that she's not into sweet vanilla... oh nope!

So she goes to be having her first innocent steps with her high school boyfriend ( yeah she's in high school) and then. has guidance from an expert, now if that is willing? no, not at all is more like a kidnapping in process, though.



And of course prince charming here's gonna have to wait his turn and in order to be finally with her...he'll have to face the dragon and the demons as in any other tale...but here? those demons? those reside in him! and the dragon will be always preying on both of them...until he or she can finally destroy him.

So as in all the fairy tales we've read since little girls, princess always falls in love with prince charming. But this prince was driving me nuts 'cause he wanted her, but wouldn't allow himself to do it...now his subconscious? that's a different story.

And the dragon always lurking in the darkness? well this dragon happens to have a thing for hiss reclusive and in some sort of twisted way he's in love with her and dreams to have her as his lovely and loyal wife, so in HIS mind he has to go save her from all the horrors from this world...but what he doesn't count is....well: HER

If you ask me, The first part of the book had me a bit bored, then mad and finally seeing some light way to sudden for seeing light that left me quite unconfortable, 'cause I'd love seeing more struggle from War's part in order to finally be with his lovely peace...but did that happen? NO, he just swalow a pill mix it with wine and that was it...he's HEALED! duh!

So besides that? there's no more things I can actually complain and I'm dying to get into the next book to see how dear War will do honor to his name no matter his condition, or rather Bay would actually do it all by herself.

Also what's with her parents huh?
don't tell me, they already knew what Gabe would do since a long time ago!
mmmmmm I just forgotten that part!
Getting into the second ASAP

The 60% of the book , so in other words the part related to GABE was kind of...boring, yeah I think I've read too much of dark 'cause what he did 2 her was noting shocking to me so basically that was the reason of my delay. I was trying to get myself more interested in the development of the second part, AKA:WAR.

WAR, also started a bit low, but way too interesting for leave it hanging anf I would have loved have seen a bit more of struggling from him in order to touch her 'cause when the moment actually came, he only got to knoch kimself out and drugged a bit...so? of course there was not gonna be any resistance from his part! duh!

I don't know I was waiting a bit more of ...shocking crazy stuffs...except but War's past....nothing else shocked me. But it was a nice book nevertheless....but I wouldn't go with the warning that this is such a dark book that you will be needing a flaslight in order to find your way back or something like that. NOPE, NOT AT ALL!

Anyway , it was nice and I'm having high expectations about how a person with so many issues like War is gonna be able to get her back...He won't miraculously throw everything in order to get her, right? I mean I'd love to, but more struggling for him...yeah?!
